Frequently Asked Questions

The things people ask most about bombic.io, answered short and straight. If you were wondering something, it is probably below.

General

Is bombic.io free?

Yes, bombic.io is completely free. Open your browser and play; nothing else is needed. There are only optional cosmetic skins, and the Classic look is free.

Do I need an install or a download?

No. bombic.io runs straight in the browser — no download, no install, no plugin. The moment the page opens, the game is ready.

Do I need an account?

No, there is no account or sign-up. You just type a nickname and go in. No password, no email.

Does it work on mobile or on a phone?

Yes. bombic.io works both in desktop browsers and on mobile (in landscape). On a phone you steer by dragging your finger in the left half of the screen (an invisible analog stick: push it a little and you walk, push it fully and you sprint), with the bomb and dash buttons bottom-right.

Gameplay

What are the controls?

On desktop you move with W A S D or the arrow keys, drop a bomb with Space, and dash with Shift (a short burst of speed, on a cooldown). On mobile the same jobs are done by dragging in the left half of the screen and by the bomb/dash buttons bottom-right. For details see How to Play.

Do I play alone or against real players?

bombic.io is a multiplayer arena game — you meet real players in the same arena. Matches are fast and matchmaking is instant.

How do I level up? What is an XP gem?

In Survivor and Chaos, XP gems are scattered on the floor and the magnet pulls them in automatically. Collecting them builds XP and levels you up. When you kill an opponent, part of the XP they had collected spills onto the floor as gems, so hunting high-level players pays. As your level rises, your character grows too.

What are upgrade cards?

In Survivor and Chaos you pick one of 3 upgrade cards every time you level. The options include Extra Bomb, Blast Range, Speed, Fast Reload, Health, Magnet, Regeneration, Kick, Dash, Short Fuse and Lifesteal — so you can build something different every game.

How is Chaos different from Survivor?

Chaos is a wilder variant of Survivor. The arena is much bigger and completely open — only the outer boundary exists, with no walls inside. Bombs explode as a circular disc rather than a plus, and the gem field is far denser. The level and upgrade economy is the same. For the other modes see the Modes page.

Troubleshooting

What do I do if the game won't load or is slow?

Try refreshing the tab first. If it persists, update your browser to the current version, close heavy tabs you have open, and check your connection. Most loading and stutter problems come down to an up-to-date browser and a clean refresh.

Which browsers does it work in?

All current desktop and mobile browsers. Keeping your browser up to date is enough for the best experience.
